WHO WE ARE

WHE stands for made by Women, Handmade and Eco-friendly.

Whe by Abira is built on the belief that craft can create meaningful change.

We collaborate with women artisans to transform skill into sustainable livelihoods, through products that are thoughtful in design and responsible in impact. Using upcycled fabrics and reclaimed wood, we give materials a second life, shaping pieces that are both contemporary and conscious. At the heart of WHE are women, bringing strength, creativity, and a deep sense of ownership to everything they create. Each piece reflects not just craftsmanship, but dignity, confidence, and progress. Every choice you make with WHE becomes part of a larger movement; one that values people, respects the planet, and redefines the future of fashion.

WHE HISTORY

Founded in 2015 in Pune, Abira Creations Pvt Ltd began with 25 women and a clear belief, that when women are given the right opportunities, they don’t just earn, they transform their lives and communities. The name Abira, originating from Hebrew, means “strong woman,” reflecting this spirit of resilience and growth.

In 2020, Whe by Abira was launched as a design-led, ethical brand, bringing these women and their craft closer to a conscious, evolving market. Today, WHE creates thoughtfully designed accessories using upcycled materials, where sustainability and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

What began as an initiative has grown into a collective of impact—180+ women empowered, 500+ trained, multiple craft forms revived, and thousands of kilos of waste reimagined.

Beyond numbers, WHE is about women choosing confidence, independence, and ownership: one piece, one story, one step at a time.

  • MADE BY WOMEN

We are an all-women organization, from leadership to artisans, built on the strength of women at every level. Much of our raw material is sourced from women-led manufacturing groups, extending this ecosystem of opportunity. We are committed to creating meaningful livelihood opportunities for women from underserved communities—enabling independence, dignity, and long-term growth.

  • HANDMADE

Each WHE accessory is thoughtfully handcrafted, drawing from a diverse range of art and craft techniques; many of which have been practiced for generations. By prioritizing handcraft over machines, we create more employment opportunities for women at every stage of the process. Each piece reflects not just craftsmanship, but dignity, skill, and the power of meaningful work

  • ECO-FRIENDLY

We believe in reimagining materials with intention. We choose a more responsible path; one that prioritizes sustainability without compromising on design or functionality. From garment cutting waste and reclaimed wood to recycled metals, natural fibres, paper, and stones, we transform discarded and underused materials into contemporary accessories, crafted with thought, purpose, and care.

OUR ABIRAS

We call our artisans Abiras. The name originates from Hebrew, meaning “strong woman.” But an Abira is more than a name. It is an identity. She is a woman who creates her own path, builds resilience through experience, and uplifts her family and community through her growth.

WHE is an all-women organization. From leadership to artisans, built on the strength and skill of women at every stage. Much of our production is carried out in-house by a full-time women workforce, while our extended network includes artisan groups we closely support.
